Hi, I’m Brigitte — a Canadian entrepreneur who dabbles in stand-up comedy, and professional supporter of women. I’ve been fitting sports bras for over 27 years, and when I’m not helping women feel more supported, I’m on stage telling stories through Women Wit & Wisdom or hosting Women Talk  events, a storytelling community where women share real life, real laughs, and real truth.

The Booby Gazette is where all of that comes together — humour, honesty, bodies, aging, life, and the occasional rant — written for women who like their support practical and their laughs well-earned.

I don’t sell bras. I sell support -

I don’t host events. I host voices -

 Two businesses. One mission.

Once upon a time...there were no sports bras!

National Tell A Story Day

Once upon a time… not in a castle, not in a war, but in a jogging path in the 1970s… a quiet revolution was brewing.

Women were running. Fast. Free. Fearless.
But their bras? Not invited to the party.

Back then, athletic support for women was… let’s call it optimistically inadequate. Regular bras were built for sitting politely, not sprinting like your ex just showed up at the track 😏

January Blues Checklist

Enter two brilliant, slightly rebellious minds: Lisa Lindahl and Polly Smith.

Legend has it, the idea didn’t come from a lab…
It came from a locker room conversation and a moment of pure, chaotic genius.

“What do men use for support when they run?”

Answer: Jockstraps.

And just like that…
πŸ’‘ lightbulb meets elastic waistband

They literally sewed two jockstraps together.

Yes. You read that right.
The first sports bra was essentially a
“jockbra.”
Not glamorous. Not lacy. But ohhhh, it worked.

That scrappy prototype became the very first commercially available sports bra: the Jogbra.

And from that moment on…
women didn’t just run.

They flew.

πŸƒ‍♀️ No more holding your chest hostage with your arms
πŸƒ‍♀️ No more strategic “slow jog so nothing moves”
πŸƒ‍♀️ No more choosing between comfort and confidence

The sports bra didn’t just support bodies…
It supported freedom.

It quietly unlocked participation in sports, fitness, and movement for millions of women around the world. No headlines. No parades. Just a soft revolution with very strong straps.

And today?

From high-impact engineering marvels to everyday comfort queens…
the sports bra has become a symbol of something bigger:

Support isn’t a luxury. It’s a right.

So here we are, on National History Day, tipping our hats (and adjusting our straps) to the invention that changed everything… one bounce at a time πŸ’•

Because history isn’t just written in textbooks.

Sometimes… it’s stitched together in a dressing room
and fastened with hooks, hope, and a whole lot of courage.

For 15 years, the Anita Momentum 5529 has been a powerhouse of support—one of the world’s best-selling high-impact sports bras for a reason.

With its seamless cups, wireless design, breathable mesh back, and moisture-wicking fabric, it keeps women cool, secure, and confidently moving. At SPORTSBRAS.CA, it’s proudly one of our best-selling bras—because when support works this well, women keep coming back for more. πŸ’•

Tonight we spring forward, which means we lose an hour of sleep… but here’s the good news: a great sports bra never loses support. While the clocks jump ahead, the girls should stay right where they belong, proudly parked at 10 and 2 like a well-behaved Canadian compass. Because daylight saving time may move the clock, but a proper sports bra makes sure nothing else shifts south. β°πŸ’— Since we’re talking about spring, let’s talk about our wonderfully unpredictable Canadian springs. One day y ou’re jogging in sunshine thinking summer has arrived… the next day you’re digging your gloves out of your jacket pocket because a cold wind has decided winter wasn’t quite finished yet. β„οΈπŸŒ€οΈ

Valentine’s Day has a certain energy. πŸ’˜ It’s part romance, part expectation, part “why is everything pink and shaped like a heart, including things that absolutely should not be heart-shaped?” And somehow, right around the same time, the Olympics roll in and remind us that women are capable of things that make gravity look negotiable. πŸ… So here we are. Surrounded by love stories and gold-medal moments… while many of us are trying to do a workout in a sports bra that’s holding on by thoughts, prayers, and an elastic band from 2014. πŸ˜… And that’s when it hits me every year: love and sport actually have one big thing in common. The right support changes everything.
