How to Measure Your Bra Size at Home

Grab a soft measuring tape and stand in front of a mirror. Wear a lightly lined or non-padded bra to get the most accurate results.

Step 1: Measure Your Band Size

Wrap the tape measure around your ribcage, directly under your bust. Keep it snug but comfortable and level across your back.

  • Round up or down to the nearest whole inch.
  • This number is your band size (e.g., 34, 36, 38).

Step 2: Measure Your Bust Size

Next, wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust—usually across the nipples. Keep the tape level and relaxed.

  • Again, round to the nearest inch.
  • This number is your bust size.

Step 3: Calculate Your Cup Size

Subtract your band size from your bust size. The difference determines your cup size. i.e. 1" = A cup, 2" = B cup, 3" = C cup

  • πŸ’‘ Example: If your band measures 38” and your bust measures 41”, the difference is 3”. That equals a C cup, making your size a 38C.

Bra Sizing Made Simple (with a Little AlgeBRA πŸ˜‰)

On SportsBras.ca, we use three different sizing systems: UK, EU, and US (and ENELL plays by her own rules altogether). Sounds like a math test? Don’t panic—it’s just a little AlgeBRA. We’ve already done the calculations and listed all three sizes on every bra. Plus, we’ll tell you which sizing system each brand uses, so you don’t have to guess. Once you figure out your size, you’re golden ✨—no calculators required.

And if you’d rather skip the math altogether? Text us, email us, or book an online or in-person fitting and let a Bra Bestie solve the equation for you.

Sister Bra Size

Think of sister sizes as your bra’s cousins—same family, slightly different personalities. If your band feels off but your cups are on point, a sister size might be your golden ticket.

  • Band too tight? Go up a band, down a cup (36D → 38C).
  • Band too loose? Go down a band, up a cup (36D → 34E).

  • Do brands fit differently?

Our bras are designed to fit very close to standard sizing, so your rib measurement (rounded up) usually matches your band size.

    πŸ‘‰ Example: If you measure 37", you’d wear a 38C.

⚠️ Exception: Anita bras are known for a snug rib fit. If you don’t like a tight hug, go up a band size.

πŸ‘‰ Example: If you measure 37" and think you’re a 38C, in Anita you’ll likely be more comfortable in a 40C.

**Again, our ENELL BRAS are completly different

  • Why do sister sizes matter?

πŸ™ƒ. Sister sizes give you wiggle room when your “true size” feels a little off. They’re often the key to comfort.

Because bodies aren’t built by machines! Sister sizes give you flexibility when the fit feels “off.”

πŸ‘‰ If the band is too tight and you want a looser fit, you’ll need to go up a band and down a cup (36D → 38C).

πŸ‘‰ If the band is too loose, go down a band and up a cup (36D → 34E).

  • What if I’m between two sizes?

That’s totally normal! As a general rule, you would round it up to the next number. so if you measure 37" you would order a 38

The Right Bra Makes All the Difference

When you measure your bra size right, you won’t ever have to wear an ill-fitting bra again. Not only will the right bra make you look great, but it will also make you feel fantastic. Like a second skin, the right bra will comfortably hug your breasts, elevate your chest, and accentuate your beautiful body.

Especially when it comes to sports bras, finding the right one can significantly improve your workout and how you perform on the move. Depending on the type of physical activity you are doing, or what sweat-wicking materials you prefer, finding the right one for you can be a whole new challenge.

Luckily we can help you navigate the sea of different options to choose from and make sports bra shopping a breeze.
